Carl Jung, founder of analytical psychology states that the shadow is “anything we are not conscious of.” This includes both our strengths and our weaknesses, our light and our dark, all that we have disowned or forgotten. We humans disown our great powers of light just as much as we disown our wounds of the dark. The Shadow is a source of powerful energies that long to be conscious and released, reclaimed and used in our lives as a source of compassion, gentleness and goodness.
